What it is
Ohio Works First (OWF) is Ohio’s TANF program — time-limited monthly cash assistance for eligible low-income families with children. Most adult recipients must participate in work activities to stay eligible.
Related: Disability Financial Assistance
Adults who are disabled but don’t yet meet federal SSI/SSDI standards may qualify for Ohio’s Disability Financial Assistance — a small monthly cash benefit for people who fall between the cracks of federal programs.
How Gesher helps
Cash assistance interacts with SNAP, Medicaid, child care and child support in complicated ways — taking one benefit can change another. We’ll map out the combined picture before you apply, so there are no surprises, and handle the paperwork end-to-end.
