Three ways to stay safely at home
CARE Program
Volunteer visits (up to five a year, for a small annual membership) for tasks seniors can’t do themselves: yard clean-up, seasonal clothing swaps, window and kitchen cleaning, storm clean-up, screen/storm window changes, home organization — even technology help. A collaboration of Community Partnership on Aging and the Cleveland Heights Office on Aging, serving several east-side communities.
Safe at Home (Rebuilding Together Northeast Ohio)
Free safety and accessibility modifications for homeowners over 60 or with a disability: smoke and CO detectors, interior/exterior handrails, grab bars and bathroom modifications, storm doors, deadbolts, light fixtures and other minor health-and-safety repairs.
Options for Independent Living
In-home care for Cuyahoga County adult and senior homeowners who are not eligible for Medicaid waiver programs: medical transportation, emergency response systems, homemaker services, chores and personal care.
How Gesher helps
Each program has its own intake line, income rules and waitlist. Tell us what’s getting hard at home — we’ll figure out which program (or combination) fits and make the referrals.
